MacFarlane Park Explorers are world citizens committed to the service of others. It is our goal to help facilitate Service Learning experiences for our children. The ultimate goal is that the children, using IB Learner traits, will feel inspired to take action and make a difference in the world. We are hoping to give parents, teachers and students a place where they can find the resources and opportunities for service learning. Service Learning is a part of our IB curriculum and opportunities during the school day will occur for those who cannot attend outside events. They do not have to do it all! Find something that your child is passionate about and do a little or a lot. Our community is diverse and we want our service to reflect that. You do not have to do only these events; any service your child does can be filled out on the Community Service Log.

What is Service Learning?

Service Learning is a teaching method where guided or classroom learning is deepened through service to others in a process that provides structured time for reflection on the service experience and demonstration of the skills and knowledge acquired.
