President’s Achievement Award

Our PTA received the Florida PTA President’s Achievement Award at the Annual State PTA Convention. Florida PTA, made up of approximately 1400 local units, is the largest statewide volunteer organization working exclusively on behalf of children and youth. The Achievement Award is the highest award given to a PTA in Florida.

The President’s Achievement Award is given to the PTA that best exhibits the mission to make every child’s potential a reality by engaging and empowering families and communities to educate and advocate for all children. The MacFarlane Park PTA lives up to this creed through a variety of programs and services.

At the State PTA Convention the Kindness Campaign and Passport of Service Programs were highlighted.

The Kindness Campaign is a month long awareness campaign to teach students the importance of treating others with kindness and respect. Students are encouraged to find stars hidden around the school which reveal acts of kindness. After finding the star and completing the act, the student reflects on the experience in writing. Students may also write about random acts of kindness of their own choosing. The classroom with the most acts of kindness wins the kindest class award.

The Passport of Service Program teachers our students service learning. Each child is issued a passport and community service logs. Once a student completes an act of community service, the student reflects on the experience on the community service log. At the end of the month, the students who have turned in logs are announced in the morning show and come to the media center to receive their passport of service stamp. Students keep their passports year after year to reflect in their experiences.
